We take care of the Medical Director
We ensure that there is always Medical Director coverage; One that is familiar with Acupuncture, who's a qualified Medical Director with the appropriate Malpractice Insurance, and that can oversee all the charts. We pay the Medical Director, have our legal team oversee his part in the business, and work with him if there are any problems as a part of our services. Finding a qualified Medical Director is very difficult; but we have this covered. Medical Directors need to be available 24/7 via phone/text as well. Once a qualified Medical Director is confirmed, Medicare has to approve your CMS number which can take a year or longer and isn't guaranteed. CAB has all the above covered for you.
We take on all the risk
We take all the risk: If reimbursement rates change, if a patient doesn't pay, if Medicare won't reimburse, if something happens to our Medical Director, etc. You don't need to worry about any issues. We pay you via direct deposit bimonthly, regardless. You will be Contracted so at the end of each year we provide you a 1099 form to pay taxes on what you made with CAB. This means you get to focus on treating YOUR patient how YOU want!
You only have two reimbursement rates: 1) With Electrical Stimulation or 2) Without Electrical Stimulation. We bill based on what Medicare pays out for a standard acupuncture session. This means that your reimbursement schedule wont increase if you decide to spend extra time with the patient, if you do cupping, manual therapy, use a topical salve, use TDP, or anything else. You don't need to know which codes they take for what portion with which modifiers! You just tell us if you used Stim or not. We pay a flat, non-negotiable payout to you of $67 for a treatment with stim and $64 without stim.
We verify each patients' benefits
We ask that you watch our (patient-centered) video, below, to get a better idea of which of your patients might be eligible for our services. Once you think you might have someone qualified, we take care of the rest: We gather all their demographics and insurance information to confirm and verify their benefits. In previous experience, this is by far the most difficult part of the process as most patients themselves do not understand which insurance they have or who is their primary. Only Medicare-qualified providers/teams have access to the portal that allows us to confirm their Medicare.
You can expect your patient visits to increase dramatically
Each qualified patient will receive 20 visits for every 365 days (day 1 is counted from their first acupuncture visit with Medicare). We've seen an incredible increase in existing patient visits that were cash pay before their Medicare was being billed. It has been rare in the past few years to see patients NOT finish out their full 20 approved visits. We've seen most patients run out of their visits before the 365 days and decide to continue acupuncture as a cash-pay patient until they get another authorization. Plan on your existing patient visits to increase dramatically. One clinic rendered more than 1,000 more visits in the year prior to taking Medicare part B, and that number increased in following years.
Plan on getting an influx of new patients. We have seen patients who never would have tried acupuncture unless their insurance paid for it. Even better if you can be one of the first clinics in your area to take Medicare. We've seen that once a patient is established with a certain clinic, they tend to be loyal to that clinic for years to come.
We realize our reimbursement rate is less than most cash-pay visits. We are patient centered, though. If you know you can get that patient to come see you for double or triple the amount of visits they would normally if they paid out-of-pocket, but they paid nothing, or very little, they will not only be happier, feel, healthier, but tell all their friends.
You don't need to take any money from the patient
Once the patients benefits are confirmed, we communicate with both you and the patient about what their benefits are. Then you get to start treating them how you do best!
You won't be rendering any money from the patient. We deal with tracking down each patient to collect their deductibles, copays, coinsurances, and leftover owed amounts. We instruct you on how many visits in what time period they are approved to be seen for, and that's it!
All you need to do is make sure you have thorough charts that have some indication that you've been addressing their chronic low back pain, have the patient fill out an assessment form when directed, and send us your notes to confirm that patient's been seen! Once we receive your SOAP note for that visit, it gets added to your paystub for that pay period (every two weeks). However many treatments you rendered in that pay period we pay you regardless of when or what we get paid out.
Why choose to work with us?
- If you are looking to offer your patients an amazing benefit they have through their insurance without having to be tied into an contract, be in-network, or take any risk of not getting paid.
- This is great for all cash-pay clinics, for already insurance-heavy clinics that might have their own systems, small individual practices, or larger ones too.
- You only pay a once-annual $99 fee for us to credential you. Because we take all the risk we need to ensure that each provider we work with has an active license, has valid malpractice insurance, and has no judgments against them.
- If you decide you no longer want to take Medicare, you can opt-out whenever you'd like.
- We don't do any advertisement for you: so be prepared to do things like ask your patients to tell their friends, or let your nearest Primary Care Clinic know that you are a qualified provider so they can send their patients to you!
- If you're looking to be one of the first few clinics to offer this amazing benefit to your patients, contact us today to get started.
